Equipment
- Baking Tray
- Parchment paper
- Large mixing bowl
- Measuring spoons
- Spatula or tongs to flip the wedges
- 1 Vegetable brush
- 1 chefs knife
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 4 tbsp BBQ sauce, sour cream, or sweet chilli sauce (or all three!)
Instructions
Prep in Advance
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Let’s Cook!
- Wash your hands.
- Gather all necessary utensils.
- Scrub the potatoes under running cold water and put aside to drain.
- When dry enough, cut each into wedges down the length. It’s a good idea to cut them in half, then cut each half into either 3 or 4 wedges. Be careful as your make radial cuts towards the centre of each potato half.
- Put all the wedges in your mixing bowl.
- Add 2 tbsp olive oil to the bowl with the potatoes.
- Sprinkle 1 tsp smoked paprika over the potatoes.
- Add 1 tsp garlic powder.
- Add 1 tsp onion powder. (Don't stress if you don't have things like this – just leave it out! It'll only taste slightly different, but as you'll learn, you're going to be dipping these in sauce anyway, so don't stress!)
- Sprinkle 1 tsp salt.
- Add ½ tsp black pepper
- Toss the potato wedges until they are evenly coated with the oil and spices.
- Arrange the potato wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking tray. They'll need to be a single layer to cook evenly!
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then turn them over one by one, and bake for another 20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the wedges from the oven and transfer them to a large bowl.
- Drizzle 2 tbsp of BBQ sauce over the hot potato wedges.
- Toss the wedges to coat them evenly with the BBQ sauce.
- Serve immediately with your sour cream and sweet chilli sauce either on the side or in serarate dishes.
